I write things and I put them here. This is my little corner of the internet.
I envisioned this blog as a way to explore my own interests more deeply through writing.
For me, to research a topic that I find deeply interesting, to understand it to such an extent that I can write a half decent essay of sound opinion, is something which I find amazingly rewarding. Writing gives me access to the mythical “flow state” spoken of by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and is a means of self-actualization. And so The Neocortex is “an exhaust pipe for my intellectual life and an excuse to practice the craft of writing”, as one of my favorite bloggers Kevin Simler says of his blog Melting Asphalt.
I cover the latest research in biology, psychology, and neuroscience, and write essays on the nature of consciousness, the psychological basis of population control, and the potential enhancement of the human experience with meditation, psychedelic and nootropic drug use, lifestyle factors, among other such things.
At a much deeper level, this blog is my attempt at finding my way in a digital world, and I appreciate every word you read here.
